Skyruning and Mountain Climbing on Nursultan Peak

7 July 2011

After unprecedented storms and torrential rains on Chimbulak ski-resort on the third of July, people gathered to wear a track to Talgar pass, drowning in the mud and slipping on the wet grass, and to reach the finish line on Chimbulak peak (2380m).

Divided by age group, the record set Faizullin Raphael. Among the first of the
vertical kilometer runners were Andrew Puchinin, Bagaudin Bekov, Alexander Rybin and Helen Kuhn. 471 athletes registered for the competition and over 200 of them reached the finish line.

26 mountain climbers reached the summit of Nursultan Peak(4376m), where they mounted a plate in honor of the 20th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s independence. Because of avalanche danger, two climbing routes were not available. The teams climbed the second and fourth category of difficulty routes.
