31 Chanel Report: Almaty-resident going to climb the highest volcano in the world

22 January 2012

  • Our fellow-citizen is not afraid of snow and frost. Andrew Gundarev, Almaty resident, is going to climb the highest volcano in the world. It is called Ojos del Salado and located in Chile.

The climb can take anywhere from five to ten days. The mounteeneer will climb at minus forty degrees celcius. However, Andrew is not afraid of such difficulties. Especially because he plans to make the program of climbing to the top of the seven highest volcanoes on the seven continents. Several years ago, he had already reached the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro and Mt. Elbrus. Ojos del Salado will be the first peak ascended by Kazakhstani. At the summit, Andrew is planning to set up a flag of Kazakhstan, or leave the tile of Kazakhstan chocolate at least.

  • ANDREW Gundarev, mountain guide, mountain climber, rescue workers: *

- Each Volcano is different! On the erupting volcano nobody would let, a permit at the government level must be obtained. And technically … there is no technical difficulties climbing the volcanoes. The only thing we can face is the height of the volcano – nearly seven thousand meters above the sea level and climate in which the volcano exists.
